"Jonathan van Doornum’s sculptures, drawings, and performances bring together technology, communication, and magic. He often creates his works from aluminium—a cold material that Van Doornum imbues with a soft, narrative power by shaping it into forms such as flames, curls, or bows. His visual language is influenced by both ancient ceremonial objects and the most contemporary techniques. In doing so, Van Doornum reveals a poetic world in which past, present, and future coexist.
